A Georgina man is facing charges in relation to an alleged sexual assault of a teenager earlier this month.

According to the York Regional Police, a 14-year-old girl reported that she was talking in the area of Metro Road South in Georgina around 10:30 p.m. on June 2 when she was approached by a male suspect who threw her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.

“The suspect then fled the area on foot,” reads a media release.

“The victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening physical injuries.”

Video surveillance from an area close to the location of the incident was released on June 4 and investigators received several tips which helped identify the suspect, who turned himself in on Thursday (June 10).

Benjamin Morrison, 30, of Georgina has been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and assault.
