A 20-minute standoff between police and an armed man in Blackstock on Saturday (June 5) ended peacefully.
According to the DRPS, officers were called after two men – one armed with a knife – were involved in an altercation.
“Officers arrived in the area and engaged the armed male in conversation at a safe distance,” reads a social media post from police.
“They were able to convince the male to drop his weapon.”
Police say the man continued to be combative and tried to engage the officers.
The man surrendered after roughly 20 minutes, according to police.
“He was taken to hospital for an assessment and faces several charges,” the post reads.
