A novice motorist is facing charges after paramedics called police about a suspected impaired driver.
According to the OPP, offficers received a call for assistance from Kawartha Lakes EMS on Saturday (June 5).
“Paramedics indicated that they had observed a disabled vehicle and stopped to check on the well-being of the driver, at which point they became concerned that the driver was impaired,” reads a media release.
Jackson Pretty, 18, has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), coperation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and novice driver – blood alcohol content above zero.
They are scheduled to appear in Lindsay court on June 24.
The vehicle was towed from the scene to be impounded for seven days as part of the offence, police noted.
