Two charged following alleged home invasion in Lindsay

Two people are facing charges and three others are sought following an alleged home invasion in Lindsay.

According to the Kawartha Lakes Police Service, police were called to a residence on Wellington Street around 7 a.m. Tuesday (June 1) and were told by the occupants that five individuals had forcibly entered the property. Two individuals reportedly pointed firearms at an occupant, police said.

“All five suspects, fled the scene in a vehicle prior to police arrival. Through witness statements and video surveillance officers have identified two of the individuals,” reads a media release.

Two suspects — a 23-year-old female whose name has not been released and a young offender — were arrested Wednesday (June 2) and charged with break and enter with intent; robbery with firearm; unauthorized possession of a firearm; unauthorized possession of a weapon; pointing a firearm; possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition; and knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon.

“The City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act will not be releasing the names of the accused or any other information that may lead to the identification of the young offender,” the media release reads.

Both suspects have been held pending a bail hearing.
