Celebrate ‘Canada Day the Durham Way’ on July 1

Residents are once again invited to celebrate Canada Day the Durham Way, with a virtual event on July 1.

This year’s online showcase features a whole lot of family fun, including children’s activities, musical performances and cooking demonstrations.

“Join us for exciting performances by Brant the Fire Guy and Dan the Music Man; participate in a decorating contest, scavenger hunt and trivia challenges; watch cooking demonstrations; and take a tour of an army tank from the comfort of your own home,” reads a media release.

“Durham Region is one of the most vibrant and diverse communities in Ontario. This event will highlight why our quality of life is second to none – a celebration of our multicultural landscape and cultures; exciting performers; one-of-a-kind children’s activities; and musical talent.”

The event will be streamed on YouTube. Residents are invited to share photos on social media using the hashtag #CanadaDayTheDurhamWay on social media (Instagram, Facebook or Twitter).

“Canada Day the Durham Way offers a chance to celebrate our great nation and the vibrant region we live in. Communities across Durham are uniting and finding innovative ways to stay #DurhamStrong until we can safely reopen for in-person celebrations. I encourage everyone from across the region to tune in on July 1. Let’s celebrate our amazing country, together,” said Regional Chair John Henry.

“Here in Brock our amazing community organizations run Canada Day events for the community to enjoy. We are grateful that the area municipalities and Region of Durham have come together again to provide a virtual celebration for all Durham residents to enjoy Canada Day festivities,” added Brock TownshipMayor John Grant.
