Woman facing charges after standoff in Oshawa

An Oshawa woman is facing charges after barricading herself in a home for several hours following a weapons call Tuesday (May 25).

According to the DRPS, officers received a report of an armed person in the area of Athabasca Street and King Street East in Oshawa around 10 a.m.

“The female suspect was involved in a verbal altercation with three other parties, when she pulled out a firearm and threatened the victims. The female then fled to her dwelling and barricaded herself inside,” reads a media release from police.

“Officers surrounded the home and negotiated with the female for several hours to have her surrender peacefully.”

Officers located a black pellet gun after the woman left the home around 5:20 p.m.

Tracy Catherwood, 57, has been charged with three counts of pointing a firearm, three counts of uttering death threats and two counts of fail to appear.

She was held for a bail hearing.
