Suspicious death in Leaskdale deemed a homicide

A suspicious death that occured in Leaskdale in November of last year has been deemed a homicide.

Investigators made the annoucement on Tuesday (May 25), noting that a lone suspect in the case has since died.

Police were initially called to a residence on Regional Road 13 near Concession Road 7 in Uxbridge Township on Nov. 13, 2020.

“Durham Paramedics notified police after Roberta Dickens, a 63-year-old female, was located deceased in the basement of her residence,” the media release reads.

“The circumstances of her death were deemed suspicious, pointing to evidence of head and neck trauma and DRPS homicide investigators took over the case.”

Police said that a tenant at the property was identified as the primary suspect.

“Days before investigators were set to arrest the suspect, the 32-year-old male was found deceased in an unrelated incident in Toronto,” the media release reads.
