Cyclist in critical condition following Uxbridge collision

A 64-year-old cyclist remains in critical condition after a collision in Uxbridge this past Saturday (May 22).

Shortly before noon Saturday, Durham Regional Police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a cyclist on Regional Road 47 at Old Stouffville Road. 

Police say a 78-year-old man from Stouffville was travelling northbound in a Toyota Rav 4 when it struck the cyclist. The driver of the vehicle stopped and remained on scene. 

According to DRPS, the cyclist sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a trauma centre in Toronto where he remains in critical condition. 

The roadway was closed for several hours for officers to collect evidence and conduct their investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

DRPS would like to hear from any witnesses to this collision who have not already spoken to police.
