
An officer with the DRPS has been charged with assault following an investigation.
According to the SIU, there are reasonable grounds to believe that the officer committed a criminal offence in relation to the arrest of a 25-year-old man in Oshawa in October of 2020.
DRPS officers were dispatched to the Atria Bar & Grill in relation to a fight that had been reported on the evening of Oct. 25, 2020. In the course of arresting a man, the man sustained an injury.
Constable Michael Marriott has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm.
He is scheduled to appear in Oshawa court on June 9.
