A motorist from Elmvale has been charged with impaired driving and drug possession after police received complaints of erratic driving in Orillia Monday (May 17).
According to the OPP, the complaints were received shortly after 6 a.m. and concerned a vehicle that had stopped in a parking lot on Memorial Avenue.
“Officers quickly attended, located the vehicle and approached the driver who was slumped over the steering wheel. An impaired driving investigation was commenced and the driver was subsequently arrested,” reads a media release.
“A search resulted in the seizure of a quantity of a substance believed to be Fentanyl.”
Georgina Poynter, 39, has been charged with operation while impaired – drugs and possession of a Schedule I substance – opioid.
