A young actress from the area has stepped into the spotlight for a breakout role.
Skywalker Hughes has joined the cast on Joe Pickett, a drama series that is currently in production in Calgary.
According to DEADLINE, the hour-long show follows game warden Joe Pickett (played by Michael Dorman) and his family as they navigate the changing political and socio-economic climate in a small rural town in Wyoming.
“Surrounded by rich history and vast wildlife, the township hides decades of schemes and secrets that are yet to be uncovered,” a synopsis reads.
Skywalker will play one of Pickett’s daughters on the series.
While her mom, Christina, jokes that the youngster has been acting for most of her life, Skywalker got a formal introduction last fall when she was cast in a hockey commercial.
She lists Natalie Portman and Mark Wahlberg as a couple of her acting inspirations and is “really excited” to join the cast.
The show is based on a series of bestselling novels by C.J. Box and is set to stream on Spectrum Originals in the U.S.
“C.J. Box’s brilliant and beloved Joe Pickett novels draw you in with the quiet beauty of the Wyoming setting, but it’s the characters that keep you riveted in their complexity, passion and unique points of view – for better or worse,” said Katherine Pope, head of Spectrum Originals.
The cast also includes David Alan Grier, Julianna Guill, Sharon Lawrence, Mustafa Speaks, Paul Sparks, Chad Rook and Kamryn Pliva.
