A 49-year-old woman from Ajax and a 42-year-old Whitby man were pronounced dead following a head-on collision Wednesday (May 5).
According to the DRPS, officers were called to Salem Road near Kerrison Drive in Ajax shortly after 6 p.m.
“It was reported that a white 2020 Toyota RAV4 was southbound on Salem Road approaching Kerrison Drive when it crossed the centre line and entered into the northbound lanes,” reads a media release from police.
“The RAV4 continued southbound where it collided head-on with a blue 2008 Hyundai Sante Fe travelling in a northbound lane.”
The female driver of the Toyota Rav4 was pronounced dead at the scene, police say. An 18-year-old female passenger of the Rav4 was treated and transported to a trauma centre in Toronto. She has serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The male driver of the Hyundai Sante Fe was pronounced dead at the scene. A 43-year-old female passenger was extricated and transported to a trauma centre in Toronto with serious injuries.
“The area was closed for several hours while investigators collected evidence and canvassed for video surveillance,” reads a media release.
