May 4th is International Firefighters’ Day. On this day, we recognize the extraordinary courage and commitment of the women and men, past and present, in the fire service.
International Firefighters’ Day is an opportunity for us to pause and reflect on the sacrifices that firefighters make to protect life and preserve property. These brave and selfless individuals continue to provide exemplary service despite the added challenges of the pandemic.
This day is also an opportunity to remember the contributions of past firefighters – especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. I invite all of us to remember the firefighters who died while serving our communities and celebrate those who currently dedicate their lives to protecting us all.
We appreciate our firefighters who perform dangerous but essential work every day on the frontlines, and acknowledge the sacrifices and support of their families.
Please take the time to thank a firefighter.
