A project pitched by Brock Township is expected to figure prominently in an announcement by the provincial and federal governments Thursday (April 29).

Area MPP Laurie Scott and MP Jamie Schmale will be joined by Brock Mayor John Grant along with representatives from Cavan-Monaghan and Haliburton County for a virtual press conference regarding infrastructure funding at 10:15 a.m.

In November of 2019, Brock Township applied for $5.5 million in funding from the provincial and federal governments for restoration of the Sunderland Memorial Arena.

The project – which includes an expansion of the ice surface, new boards and glass, two new accessible changerooms, four new changerooms, additional storage rooms, upgrades to the refrigeration system and renovations to the front lobby and washrooms – is estimated at $6.9 overall.
