
A man is facing charges following an armed robbery at a Port Perry pharmacy on Wednesday (April 14).
According to the DRPS, the incident occured around 4:30 p.m. at Pharmacy Associates on Water Street.
“The suspect entered the pharmacy and brandished a knife. The suspect took items and fled on foot,” reads a media release.
“Members from North Division attended the area with the assistance of Air1 and K-9 units. After searching the area, the suspect was located and arrested.”
No physical injuries were reported.
Paul Hansen, 32, of no fixed address has been charged with robbery, disguise with intent and possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was held for a bail hearing.
The pharmacy addressed the incident in a social media post Wednesday evening.
“Through the outstanding work of the Durham Regional Police Service, a suspect was arrested in less than 45 minutes. We are grateful for their skill & professionalism and also for the understanding of our patients who were inconvenienced during the investigation,” it reads.
“I would also like to recognize our wonderful staff. Mere moments after going through a simply terrible experience, they showed equal professionalism and worked into the evening to ensure all of our patients would get the care they needed. I am proud to work with such a dedicated team of professionals.”
