Uxbridge driver charged by Peterborough OPP

A motorist from Uxbridge faces charges after police say they clocked a vehicle traveling more than 50 kilometres per hour above the speed limit.

According to a release, Peterborough County OPP officers were conducting radar patrol on Highway 28 early Sunday morning (April 11).

“Shortly after 12:30am an officer clocked a vehicle travelling at 138km/h in a posted 80km/h zone. Open containers of liquor and cannabis were located within the vehicle during the traffic stop,” reads the release from police, in part.

Police say the 27-year-old driver of Uxbridge was charged with:

  • Stunt driving in relation to excessive speed
  • Driver fail to surrender licence
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
  • Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended and vehicle impounded for seven days.

They are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on June 7, 2021.
