Two new cases of COVID-19 reported in Brock last week

Two new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Brock Township last week, bringing the total to 70 since the pandemic emerged more than a year ago.

According to the Durham Region Health Department, there are currently four active cases in the municipality – three residents are in home isolation, while another has been hospitalized.

Twelve of the local cases have involved variants of concern.

Overall, there have been 14,968 confirmed cases in Durham – 4,392 in Ajax, 3,284 in Pickering, 3,060 in Oshawa, 2,489 in Whitby, 1,143 in Clarington, 295 in Uxbridge, 232 in Scugog and 70 in Brock Township.

A total of 1,239 residents are in home isolation, with 55 currently hospitalized.

A total of 308 deaths – including 217 at long-term care and retirement homes – have been attributed to COVID-19.

A total of 13,366 cases have been resolved, which represents 89 per cent of the total.
