An online fundraiser has been launched for the daughter of a woman that was struck and killed by a train last week.
While the DRPS and CN Police Service have not released any details about the incident, 32-year-old Tiffany Basler died on March 25 after being hit at a crossing in the Port Bolster area.
A post accompanying the fundraiser describes Basler as a loving daughter, sister, friend, aunt and cousin – but most importantly, a mom to her 10-year-old daughter, Neveah.
The money raised will be placed in a tax-free savings account that will be given to the youngster to help with school when she’s older.
There’s been an outpouring of support for the family on social media in the days since the tragedy.
“We just want to let everyone know we thank and appreciate all comments, messages and phone calls. It’s nice to know we have such a caring community during these hard times,” said Meagan Shurgold, Basler’s sister and Naveah’s aunt.
“Everyone has been so supportive and we can’t thank them all enough for everything.”
