K-9 Unit tracks down stabbing suspect in Oshawa

A 38-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries after being stabbed numerous times during an altercation in Oshawa Saturday (March 27) night.

According to the DRPS, officers were called to the area of Ritson Road North and Hillcroft Street in Oshawa for a stabbing around 11:45 p.m.

“The victim confronted the suspect about his relationship with a female. During the altercation, the victim was stabbed and sustained life-threatening injuries,” reads a media release.

“The suspect fled the scene on foot. Police arrived and located the victim, who was taken to a Toronto-area trauma hospital where he remains in stable condition.”

After a lengthy search by a K-9 unit, the suspect was located hiding in a storage container and placed under arrest.

Kainen Braithwaite, 28, of no fixed address has been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and weapons dangerous.

He was held for a bail hearing.
