The pilot that died following a plane crash on Lake Simcoe last week has been identified.

James Wares, 65, of Ramara Township was pronounced dead after a small plane crashed into the ice shortly before 4 p.m. last Monday (March 15).

Responding emergency crews utilized an airboat to access the scene, which was more than a kilometre from shore west of Lagoon City.
