Four people remain unaccounted after a fire engulfed a series of adjoining homes in downtown Oshawa Monday (March 22) morning.

While few details have been released, the fire appears to have broken out on Olive Avenue shortly before 1 a.m. and quickly spread.

A social media post from Oshawa Fire Services around 3 a.m. noted that five people had been taken to hospital and crews were searching for four others.

Olive Avenue remains closed between Simcoe and Ritson roads.
