Five new cases of COVID-19 reported in Brock over last three days

Five new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Brock Township in recent days.

Two of the cases were reported Thursday (March 18), two more on Friday and another on Saturday, bringing the municipal total to 66 since the pandemic emerged more than a year ago.

Seven of the local cases have involved variants of concern.

Overall, there have been 12,917 confirmed cases in Durham – 3,751 in Ajax, 2,859 in Pickering, 2,607 in Oshawa, 2,195 in Whitby, 971 in Clarington, 263 in Uxbridge, 205 in Scugog and 66 in Brock Township.

A total of 466 residents are in home isolation, with 29 currently hospitalized.

A total of 304 deaths – including 217 at long-term care and retirement homes – have been attributed to COVID-19.

A total of 12,118 cases have been resolved, which represents 94 per cent of the total.
