Another CAO shakeup at Brock Township

There’s been yet another CAO shakeup at Brock Township.

While few details have been released, Dean Hustwick has left the municipality’s employ after little more than four months on the job.

Members of council have remained tight-lipped about the situation, with Mayor John Grant noting that Hustwick left the municipality as of Monday (March 15), the same day that members of council called an emergency closed-door session to discuss employee matters.

“We wish him well in his future endeavors,” Mayor Grant said.

Hustwick was hired on as CAO back in September of 2020 following an extensive search and formally assumed the role in November.

It’s the second time in less than a year that the municipality has parted ways with its CAO. Hustwick’s predecessor, Robert Lamb, lasted little more than six months (December of 2019 to June of 2020).

While the circumstances of Hustwick’s departure remain unclear, it certainly exacerbates the current staffing void facing the municipality.

The treasurer’s position has remained vacant for more than a month already, after Laura Barta accepted a job with the Township of Scugog back in January.

Clerk Becky Jamieson has also accepted a new job with Scugog and is scheduled to leave her current post at the end of this month.
