Waterloo resident charged in connection to Uxbridge theft investigation

A 58-year-old from Waterloo faces charges after a trail monitoring device was allegedly stolen from an Uxbridge property.

On March 10, Durham Regional Police launched an investigation into the theft of the device, used to monitor trail conditions, from within Durham Regional Forest in Uxbridge. The following day, police executed a search warrant at a storage facility in Whitchurch-Stouffville. During the search, officers say they seized stolen property.

David Halpenny of Waterloo is charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

He was release on an Undertaking.

Anonymous information can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward.
