
A Georgina man has been charged following a break-in at an Orillia business last week.
According to the OPP, officers responded to an alarm call at an Atherley Road business shortly at 2 a.m. on March 10.
“Officers arrived to find the front glass door smashed and cash registers missing from the counter,” reads a media release.
“No one was seen in the immediate area and officers expanded their search.”
While driving southbound on Highway 12 in Ramara, officers reportedly observed a male standing beside a car in the parking lot of another business.
“The officers immediately returned to the area and found that the male had fled the scene. Three cash registers were located in the now abandoned vehicle,” reads a media release.
A canine unit attended and located a suspect a short distance away, police say.
James Taylor, 39, has been charged with break, enter a place – commit indictable offence, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possess break in instruments and disguise with intent.
He was held pending a bail hearing.
