Three new cases of COVID-19, including variant, reported in Brock

Three new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Brock since Sunday (March 7), including one involving a variant of concern.

According to the Durham Region Health Department, the residents in all three cases are isolating.

There are currently four active cases in the municipality, as well as an outbreak involving a staff member at Lakeview Manor.

Overall, there have been 12,189 confirmed cases in Durham – 3,512 in Ajax, 2,697 in Pickering, 2,478 in Oshawa, 2,087 in Whitby, 906 in Clarington, 250 in Uxbridge, 199 in Scugog and 59 in Brock Township.

Of the 322 active cases, a total of 301 residents are in home isolation and 21 are currently hospitalized.

A total of 300 deaths – including 217 at long-term care and retirement homes – have been attributed to COVID-19.

A total of 11,567 cases have been resolved, which represents 95 per cent of the total.
