
A new case of COVID-19 has been reported in Brock Township – the first in more than two weeks.
According to an update from the Durham Region Health Department, the case was confirmed on Thursday (March 4) and the resident is isolating.
In addition to the lone active case, a staff member at Lakeview Manor in Beaverton has tested positive as well prompting the declaration of an outbreak on March 1.
The staff member is isolating and no cases have been reported amongst residents thus far.
As of Saturday (March 6), there have been 12,063 confirmed cases in Durham – 3,482 in Ajax, 2,671 in Pickering, 2,451 in Oshawa, 2,056 in Whitby, 900 in Clarington, 250 in Uxbridge, 197 in Scugog and 56 in Brock Township.
A total of 225 residents are in home isolation, with 19 currently hospitalized.
A total of 300 deaths – including 217 at long-term care and retirement homes – have been attributed to COVID-19.
A total of 11,519 cases have been resolved, which represents 95 per cent of the total.
