Regional Councillor Ted Smith might not be the only member of council running in the mayoral by-election.
Ward 1 Councillor Mike Jubb, elected to his first term in 2018 , has floated the possibility on social media in recent days but has yet to fully commit.
“With the tragic passing of our very well respected mayor Debbie Bath-Hadden, the municipality has been left with a large void. The Township of Brock is currently going through a stage of intense change. These changes come with challenges that require strong, proven leadership. I care deeply about the municipality and I feel I can help the municipality progress throughout these challenging times,” he said.
“I have not made a firm decision as of yet, however, I will make a firm decision in the next few weeks. I would like to personally thank all the residents for their encouragement. If I choose to run for the office of mayor I will not let you down. People are first in my books.”
Nominations will formally open later this month.
