Hockey coach charged in relation to historical sexual offenses against teenaged player

A Pickering man has been charged in connection with alleged historical sexual offences against a teenaged hockey player he was coaching.

According to the York Regional Police, the investigation was initiated after officers received information regarding possible historical sexual assaults against a 15-year-old female victim.

“The incidents occurred from 2009 to 2011, while the accused was coaching competitive girls hockey in the Greater Toronto Area,” reads a media release.

Lorne Rappaport, 47, has been charged with two counts of sexual assault, sexual Interference – person under 16, sexual exploitation and invitation to sexual touching.

“The accused has been a hockey coach and ran various hockey camps and training programs for many years. Investigators want to ensure that there are no additional victims and are asking anyone with information to come forward,” the media release reads.
