
A 12-year-old boy sustained a serious injury after being buried by a snowplowing vehicle at a Whitby school Tuesday (Feb. 16).
According to the DRPS, officers were called to Julie Payette Public school on Garden Street in Whitby around 9:40 a.m, after two students were injured from snow being pushed by a front-end loader.
“The snow clearing vehicle was working on an adjacent residential property when the injuries were sustained,” reads a media release.
A 12-year-old boy was completely buried in the snow and sustained serious injuries. Responding officers performed CPR before he was transported to a local hospital. He was later transferred to a trauma centre in Toronto.
An 11-year-old girl was partially buried in the snow and sustained minor injuries. She was treated and released by emergency services on scene.
The Ministry of Labour is also investigating the incident, police noted.
