Drive-by memorial for former Brock Township mayor set for March 6

A drive-by memorial for former Brock Township Mayor Debbie Bath-Hadden will be held on March 6.

While a route has not yet been finalized, the event will get underway at 10:30 a.m. according to organizer and Ward 5 Councillor Lynn Campbell.

In social media posts, Coun. Campbell noted that she is working with Brock Township Fire Chief Rick Harrison and the Durham Region Health Department to plan the event.

Bath-Hadden died on Jan. 24 following a battle with cancer.

In addition to being elected Brock’s first female mayor in 2018, she served three terms as a ward councillor and another as regional councillor.

Bath-Hadden was also extremely active in the community — as a longtime coach with minor baseball, served on the organizing committee of the Sunderland Maple Syrup Festival for more than a decade and helped co-ordinate a number of fundraisers for the Canadian Cancer Society, including the Relay for Life’s three-year run in Sunderland.
