Investigation underway into allegations against retirement residence staff

Police are investigating after allegations were made against staff of a retirement residence in Courtice.

According to Durham Regional Police, the investigation was launched on Feb. 12 after a complaint was made against staff members at the White Cliffe Terrace Retirement Residence.

“The allegation is that staff members had removed door handles to some units in the residence,” reads a release from police.

“The DRPS Criminal Investigations Bureau at East Division is looking into the matter and we will be reaching out to our community partners and oversight bodies to properly address these concerns.”

The investigation is ongoing and investigators are asking the public for any information about this complaint that might assist them.

Police have also received complaints of threats being made against the home and staff at the retirement residence over the weekend.
