
A snowmobiler was airlifted to hospital after going through the ice on Lake Simcoe over the weekend.
According to the OPP, emergency services received a 911 call for a snowmobiler who went through the ice on Lake Simcoe near Line 15 in )ro-Medonte around 6:30 p.m. on Friday (Feb. 5).
“Officers attended the adjacent shoreline and were able to assist in directing Oro-Medonte Fire Services to the scene where the snowmobiler was successfully removed from the water and transported to shore,” a media release reads.
The man was in the water for upwards of 40 minutes, police said.
He was taken to hospital with severe hypothermia and was later airlifted to a Toronto area hospital for treatment.
