
Police continue to investigate after several people were stabbed in East Gwillimbury over the weekend.
Shortly before 2:30 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 6), York Regional Police were called to a residence on Ridge Gate Crescent in Mount Albert for a report of a stabbing.
When officers arrived at the scene, a 38-year-old female was located deceased. Three other victims, a 2-year-old boy, a 4-year-old boy and a 35-year-old woman, were rushed to hospital with serious injuries. Police say they are all now expected to survive.
“Our thoughts are with them on their recovery. Thank you to the paramedics, nurses, doctors, surgeons and all staff involved in their care,” said the York Regional Police in a social media post Sunday (Feb. 7) afternoon.
An interaction occurred between police and the suspect, a 37-year-old male, and the suspect is deceased. The Special Investigations Unit is investigating.
York Regional Police say residents in the neighborhood can continue to expect a police presence in the area but there is no further concern for public safety.
Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area to please come forward.
