Mobility scooter stolen in Cannington returned to rightful owner

A mobility scooter stolen in Cannington has been returned to its rightful owner following a police investigation.

According to the DRPS, the scooter was stolen from a community housing complex in the village on Jan. 4 and was soon listed for sale on an online site.

A suspect was arrested on Wednesday (Feb. 3).

A 60-year-old man from Cannington – whose name has not been released – has been charged with theft under $5,000 and mischief under $5,000.

Jennifer Josephson, a seniors and community health worker with the Brock Community Health Centre, thanked constables Kristy Frech and Ted Todorovski for their efforts in tracking down the stolen scooter.

“The owner does so much for others and he only had it for a week before it was stolen,” she said.

“It’s not a big story or a huge bust but means a lot to him.”
