Brock Township surpasses 50 total cases of COVID-19

A pair of new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Brock, bringing the total to 51 since the pandemic emerged.

The update from the Durham Region Health Department Sunday (Jan. 31) notes that three cases remain active locally, including two that were reported on Jan. 28 and 29. All three are in home isolation.

Overall, there have been 10,705 confirmed cases in Durham – 3,136 in Ajax, 2,378 in Pickering, 2,104 in Oshawa, 1,843 in Whitby, 778 in Clarington, 234 in Uxbridge, 181 in Scugog and the 51 in Brock Township.

A total of 421 residents are in home isolation, with 32 currently hospitalized.

A total of 283 deaths – including 215 at long-term care and retirement homes – have been attributed to COVID-19.

A total of 9,969 cases have been resolved, which represents 93 per cent of the total.
