Three charged after drugs, weapons, vehicles seized by Kawartha Lakes, Durham police

Three people face charges after police services from Kawartha Lakes and Durham Region seized weapons, drugs and vehicles and other items following an investigation into a “rash of thefts” throughout multiple jurisdictions.

In the early morning hours on Tuesday (Jan. 26), Kawartha Lakes Police Service (KLPS), with the support of Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) teamed up to execute a search warrant at a property in Clarington.

As a result, police allegedly seized a Salem travel trailer, Yamaha All-terrain vehicle, ballistic body armour, 14.8 grams of Methamphetamine, 57 tablets of Oxycodone, a 12-gauge shotgun, a 38-caliber handgun, ammunition, a quantity of cash and a cellphone.

Three people have been charged and will appear in court in Lindsay, according to KLPS.

Jerry Holroyd, 39, of Port Hope is charged with:

  • Possession of a Prohibited/Restricted Weapon
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm X2
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm
  • Breach of Firearm Regulation
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance X2
  • Breach of Recognizance
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order X2

Gary Holroyd, 65, of Clarington is charged with the following:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

John Carlton, 38, of Bowmanville is charged with the following:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
