Four new cases of COVID-19 reported in Brock in last four days

Four new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Brock over the past four days.

Despite the influx of new cases, the rate of transmission in the township is the lowest in Durham over the past seven days according to the update Sunday (Jan. 17) from the health department.

There are currently seven active cases in the township, with six individuals in home isolation and another in hospital.

Overall, there have been 9,696 confirmed cases in Durham – 2,833 in Ajax; 2,191 in Pickering; 1,874 in Oshawa, 1,680 in Whitby, 698 in Clarington, 206 in Uxbridge, 166 in Scugog and the 46 in Brock Township. An additional three cases are under investigation.

A total of 936 residents are in home isolation, with 47 currently hospitalized.

A total of 255 deaths – including 205 at long-term care and retirement homes – have been attributed to COVID-19.

A total of 8,458 cases have been resolved, which represents 87 per cent of the total.
