Eight people have been charged after police allegedly recovered a loaded handgun and drugs during a search of a home in Orillia.
According to the OPP, officers executed a search warrant at a home on Albert Street shortly after midnight on Wednesday (Jan. 6).
Policy say a loaded handgun along with quantities of cocaine, fentanyl, heroin and other drugs, were seized.
Those charged include 20-year-old Camarr Brown of Mississauga; 20-year-old Shaquan Morris of Mississauga; 26-year-old Lucas Campbell of Orillia; 26-year-old Devon Demaine of Orillia; 49-year-old Michelle Demaine of Orillia; 26-year-old Tandra Monaco of Orillia; 50-year-old James Newton of Orillia; and 30-year-old Bronson Ritchie of Orillia.
All of the arrested parties have been charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine; possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid; possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine; and possession of a Schedule I substance – opioid.
In addition, Morris has been charged with possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm; possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime; and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
All were released on undertakings and are scheduled to appear in Orillia court on Feb. 16.
