A new Township committee is looking to bolster non-profit organizations in Brock.
Conceived by Ward 3 Councillor Walter Schummer, the Brock Township Non-Profit Sector Review Committee had its inaugural meeting Wednesday (Jan. 6) night with the aim of providing recommendations on how the municipality can support local organizations.
Other goals include discussing the challenges and opportunities facing the non-profit sector locally, as well as providing networking opportunities for cross-collaboration between community groups.
“The non-profit sector is an important part of any community’s socio-economic wellbeing and making sure it survives and thrives is everyone’s responsibility. There’s some great people volunteering on this committee and I’m confident we can make a positive difference for Brock’s non-profit sector,” Coun. Schummer – who now serves as chair of the committee – noted in a social media post.
One of the first steps is launching a webpage on the Township site for local organizations to register and take part in the process.
“Basic information will be gathered so that this committee can get down to some real work in reviewing the state of this important sector and developing recommendations for assisting local groups and organizations,” the post from Coun. Schummer reads.
The webpage should be added to the Township’s site on Friday (Jan. 8).
