Four people were charged with impaired driving offences during the sixth week of the DRPS Festive RIDE campaign.
More than 770 vehicles were stopped at checkpoints in Ajax, Pickering, Whitby, Oshawa, Brock, and Clarington through the week.
A total of 24 people were given roadside breath tests by officers. In addition to the four formally charged, two others were given license suspensions.
“After six weeks, the Festive RIDE team has charged a total of 47 motorists for drinking/drug driving offences,” reads a media release.
In addition to the impaired driving charges laid over the weekend, a total of 26 people were charged under the Highway Traffic Act.
Seven criminal charges were also laid.
