Twelve people were charged with impaired driving offences during the fourth week of the DRPS Festive RIDE campaign.
More than 1,900 vehicles were stopped at checkpoints in Ajax, Pickering Whitby, Oshawa, Brock and Clarington through the week.
A total of 23 people were given roadside breath tests by officers. In addition to the 12 formally charged, three others were given license suspensions.
“After four weeks, the Festive RIDE team has charged a total of 36 motorists for drinking/drug driving offences,” reads a media release.
In addition to the impaired driving charges laid over the weekend, a total of 67 people were charged under the Highway Traffic Act.
Twelve criminal charges were also laid.
