Durham has had more than 5,000 COVID-19 cases reported

A new case of COVID-19 was reported in Brock Township Sunday (Dec. 6).

It’s one of three active cases in the municipality and the 24th in total.

Overall, there have been 5,035 confirmed cases in Durham – 1,500 in Ajax, 1,178 in Pickering, 912 in Oshawa, 857 in Whitby, 330 in Clarington, 133 in Uxbridge, 28 in Scugog and the 24 in Brock Township. An additional 37 cases are under investigation.

A total of 721 residents are in home isolation, with 22 currently hospitalized.

A total of 196 deaths – including 166 at long-term care and retirement homes – have been attributed to COVID-19.

A total of 4,096 cases have been resolved, which represents 81 per cent of the total.
