The SIU has issued an update regarding the incident that led to the death of a one-year-old child in Kawartha Lakes Thursday (Nov. 26) morning.
According to a media release, a post-mortem on the child is scheduled for Saturday (Nov. 28) morning in Toronto.
His 33-year-old father is still in a Toronto hospital after being airlifted with gunshot wounds.
The OPP officer who sustained serious injuries as a result of a collision remains in hospital as well and is currently listed in stable condition.
“From the scene, investigators have collected three police-issued firearms which will be sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences for analysis. A fourth firearm – a handgun – was located in the pickup truck,” the media release reads.
“Investigators are in the process of taking possession of the handgun.”
