UPDATE #2: The SIU has confirmed that a one-year-old boy died as a result of a gunshot wound.
UPDATE – The OPP has released additional information regarding the incident:
The Special Investigations Unit has confirmed that a young boy is dead following an incident in Kawartha Lakes Thursday (Nov. 26) morning.
A social media post about the incident shortly after 2 p.m. also notes that a man was shot following an interaction with officers.
An OPP officer also suffered serious injuries in the incident and is currently in stable condition.
A stretch of Pigeon Lake Road in Kawartha Lakes has been closed for most of the day for the police investigation.
A post from OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique noted that there are no concerns for public safety at this time.
