A man is facing an array of charges after police allegedly uncovered a loaded handgun and drugs following a traffic stop in Georgina.
According to the York Regional Police, an officer on patrol stopped a vehicle for speeding in the area of Leslie Street and The Queensway South shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 24).
“When speaking with the driver, the officer observed evidence drugs in the vehicle,” reads a media release.
“During a search, officers located more than 18 grams of crack cocaine, seven grams of powdered cocaine, six grams of Fentanyl and a loaded handgun.”
Leabert Shaw, 22, no fixed address is facing charges including possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized; possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition; possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; occupy motor vehicle with firearm; possession of property obtained by crime; possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking; possession of Fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking; and speeding – 120km/h in a posted 80km/h zone.
