Employee suffers minor injuries during alleged theft at Lindsay grocery store

Police are searching for two suspects following an alleged theft at a Lindsay grocery store that left an employee with minor injuries.

According to the Kawartha Lakes Police Service, a man and woman attended the business shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 21) and began placing merchandise into hand basket.

“An employee of the store observed the couple leaving the business without paying for the items they had selected.  When the employee attempted to take control of the hand basket from the male, a struggle ensured and the employee was knocked to the floor, sustaining minor injuries in the process,” read a media release.

“The man and woman fled from the store prior to the arrival of police.”

The male suspect is described as being white, six feet tall, with a medium build and ‘buzz cut’ brown hair. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with “Champion” on front in white letters, grey and black camouflage pants and black running shoes with white soles.

The female suspect is described as being white, five feet, five inches tall, medium build, long straight dark brown hair worn up in a ‘messy bun’ on top of head. She was wearing a black jacket with prominent chrome zippers, grey tight-fitting pants, black running shoes with white soles and carrying a large black leather purse with leather and chain shoulder strap.
