Brock Township halls will remain closed to rentals for the remainder of the year due to concerns about COVID-19.
The decision – made by members of council Monday’s (Oct. 19) committee of the whole meeting – covers the town halls in Beaverton and Sunderland, the community halls in Wilfrid and Manilla as well as the three arena auditoriums.
A report from Clerk Becky Jamieson notes that only three rental requests have been received since the facilities were initially closed back in March.
“Since the start of the pandemic, staff have received very few inquiries from individuals or groups looking to rent the auditoriums of the community centres and or the community halls,” the report reads.
During the meeting, Jamieson noted that additional protocols need to be developed surrounding occupancy and cleaning before those facilities are reopened.
“A lot of work needs to be done.”
