Fundraiser launched for Fenelon Falls family following death of nine-year-old boy

An online fundraiser has been launched to support a Fenelon Falls family following the death of a nine-year-old boy.

Timothy Gilbert – who was lovingly known by his family and friends by a collection of nicknames including Timmy, Timbit, Timbot, Little Tim, Timberina, Timiny Cricket and Jimmy – died on Oct. 8 following a brief illness.

A post accompanying the fundraiser describes the nine-year-old as “smart, strong, energetic, funny and creative.

“Such a sweet and loveable little boy. If you knew Timmy, you would know how much he touched the lives of everyone around him,” It reads.

The online campaign has more collected more than $12,000 as of Thursday (Oct. 15), more than doubling the initial goal.

“Timmy had a heart of gold, he always put others first and was willing to go the extra mile with a helping hand. He loved his Lego, used his imagination and loved playing Minecraft online. He was a super friend to many who attended school with him at Langton Public School,” reads his obituary.

“Timmy and his dog, Polly, had a true bond and would often be found wrestling and playing together or just the opposite – all snuggled up in bed together. Polly always managed to put the biggest smile on his face.”

The family lived in Sunderland prior to moving to Fenelon Falls and still have many connections to the Brock Township community.
