Two men are facing numerous charges after allegedly defrauding victims of Scene points at various Cineplex locations in the GTA.
According to the DRPS, the suspects defrauded numerous victims of their Scene points between August of 2019 and September of 2020.
“The suspects used their cellphones to fraudulently obtain points from their victims,” reads a media release.
“The points would then be used to make numerous purchases at movie theatre locations. Investigators were able to identify 40 victims and the value of the fraud is over $7,500.”
Abdullah Muhammad, 22, of Cluett Drive in Ajax and Mohammad Bakroun, 20, of Harbord Crescent in Ajax face a combined 46 charges including personation with intent to gain advantage; possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000; unauthorized use of credit card data and fraud under $5,000.
They were released on an undertaking.
